⚠️ Important Update for Travelers in South Korea: As of March 29, 2024, under the Act on the Promotion of Resource Saving and Recycling (Resource Recycling Act), hotels and accommodations with 50 rooms or more are no longer allowed to provide complimentary single-use items such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, and razors.

This means that no matter which hotel you stay at in South Korea, you must bring your own toothbrush, toothpaste, and razor, or purchase them as paid items at the hotel. Alternatively, these essentials can also be conveniently bought at nearby convenience stores or retail shops.

This update is crucial for anyone planning to travel in South Korea or stay at hotels, helping you avoid unexpected fees or inconveniences during your trip.

Don’t worry—essential in-room amenities such as disposable slippers, refillable shampoo, body wash, and body lotion, along with facial tissues, toilet paper, cotton swabs, cotton pads, and combs, are provided free of charge for all guests.

As you pass through the entrance of Lotte Hotel Seoul and step into the first-floor lobby, your senses are immediately awakened. The hotel’s signature scent, “Embracing Moments,” fills the air with a delicate blend of bergamot, agarwood, sandalwood, ginger, and ginseng, stimulating the sense of smell. At the same time, the live performances of a pianist and a violinist enchant your hearing, signaling the beginning of a luxurious journey that engages all five senses through sincere hospitality.

Lotte Hotel Seoul consists of two buildings — the Main Tower and the Executive Tower, each offering different room categories. Guests who book a room in the Main Tower can check in at the front desk located inside the first-floor lobby, while those staying in the Executive Tower, like myself, can take the elevator up to the 15th floor to complete their check-in.

The Executive Tower, often referred to simply as the “Ex Tower,” was originally built atop the Lotte Department Store in 1988, making it a 37-year-old structure as of this year. However, thanks to an extensive 14-month full-scale renovation, it reopened in 2018 with an interior that feels brand-new — refined, elegant, and distinctly modern.

During check-in, we were assigned Room 2958, a Grand Deluxe Double Room with a city view facing Bukhansan Mountain. The architecture of Lotte Hotel Seoul resembles a matchbox, divided by a central corridor — with rooms on the southern side facing Namsan Tower and rooms on the northern side overlooking Bukhansan Mountain. Note that the Namsan Tower city-view rooms can only be assigned if available at check-in, and depending on the room type, weekend, or holiday, an additional fee of at least 36,300 KRW applies for the upgrade.

After completing the check-in process, we took the elevator up to the 29th floor. Exiting the elevator, we walked down a long corridor until we finally arrived at our room. For reference, the 29th floor houses a total of 15 rooms, numbered 2951 to 2977. The hotel operates eight in-house elevators, of which five are reserved exclusively for guests. There are three emergency staircases in total — one located behind the central elevator area and one at each end of the building.

Upon opening the door, we entered a long, rectangular studio-style room with a simple yet efficient layout. On the left side of the entrance corridor is the bathroom, and on the right side is the closet area. A few steps forward leads into the main bedroom space, which features a large window that provides an excellent sense of openness and prevents the room from feeling confined.

The closet features an elegant swing-door design with a luxurious wooden frame and a simple layout consisting of an upper shelf and a lower storage compartment. Inside, guests will find hangers, a shoehorn, a shoe brush, a mini safe, two pairs of disposable slippers (one in size M and one in size L), a disposable mask, an emergency flashlight, and a paper shopping bag. The closet in the Grand Deluxe Double Room offers ample space, large enough to comfortably store even winter clothing for two adult guests staying for a short period.

The bathroom can be accessed by sliding the hinged door to the left. Its layout is simple, with a large vanity mirror in front, a toilet booth on the left, and a shower booth with a bathtub on the right.

The vanity area is neatly stocked with two small towels for hand drying, two medium towels for the face, and two large bath towels for the body. Bathrobes are stored beneath the sink, while a hairdryer is kept in the drawer. The model provided is the Tefal Studio Dry Plus HV5431K0 (1520W). Despite its compact design, it delivers performance equivalent to a 1900W dryer, producing a strong airflow that allows for fast and gentle drying, ideal for busy mornings.

The toilet booth is fitted with a bidet-equipped toilet and offers enough space for one person to sit comfortably. The shower booth is connected to the bathtub, separated by a glass partition designed to prevent water from splashing. The bathtub is equipped with complimentary bath amenities, including bath salts, an Osulloc herbal bath tea bag, and a bath sponge, allowing for a relaxing soak.

All the reusable toiletries in the bathroom—shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, hand wash, and body lotion—are from Diptyque, the luxury French niche perfume brand, specifically the Do Son and Eau des Sens lines. The premium fragrances make you feel wonderfully refreshed after a shower.

A large glass window faces the bathtub, offering a view of the room interior. This design enhances openness and allows guests to watch TV or enjoy the city view while bathing. For privacy, a roll-down blind can be adjusted from inside the room, making it easy to close the view when sharing the space with another guest.

The bedroom features a double bed, nightstands, a desk with a chair, a mini-bar cabinet, and a window seat with a table. The bed uses a super-premium bedding system co-developed by Simmons and Lotte Hotel, along with Italian Gastaldi linens made from Egyptian cotton, ensuring exceptional comfort and restful sleep.

At the foot of the bed, a 55-inch smart TV, desk, and chair are arranged along the wall. The desk is equipped with a multimedia port for convenient laptop connectivity and a desk lamp suitable for document work.

Next to the desk is a mini-bar cabinet stocked with glassware, coffee cups, wine glasses, an electric kettle, and a Nespresso coffee machine with complimentary coffee capsules and tea bags. A selection of alcoholic beverages, soft drinks, snacks, and personal items is also available for purchase.

The window area includes a spacious window seat large enough to seat up to three adults, paired with a small table. It’s an ideal spot to enjoy city views, have light meals, or relax with tea or dessert in comfort.

Humidifiers and air purifiers can be installed in your room free of charge upon request at the front desk. The humidifier is the Winix All-in-One Stainless 4.0L (WL4E400-NEK), featuring UV+LED sterilization technology for safe use and a hygienic 4.0L stainless steel water tank. The air purifier is the LG PuriCare 360° (AS185DWWD), which effectively removes fine dust and odors.

The Grand Deluxe Double Room I stayed in offered a north-facing city view overlooking Bukhansan Mountain, with the Hana Bank headquarters building situated directly in front—coincidentally, my former workplace.

As a welcome amenity, the hotel provided seasonal fruits, macarons and other desserts, and a bottle of wine. However, these items may vary depending on hotel policy, membership tier, or room category.

I often meet my friends at hotels like this because parking is convenient, there’s no need to travel after drinking, and I can rest comfortably without commuting home. On this particular evening, we relaxed with a chilled bottle of premium Japanese sake brought by a friend while enjoying a warm bath, perfectly unwinding from the day.

Lotte Hotel Seoul Executive Tower: Grand Deluxe Double Room - Optional Benefit (Le Salon Lounge)

Lotte Hotel Seoul operates two exclusive executive lounges for Executive Tower guests only — “Le Salon” on the 16th floor and “La Cime” on the 34th floor.

La Cime is reserved for guests staying in Executive Tower suites or Deluxe Rooms with a Lounge Access Package. Le Salon, on the other hand, is accessible only to guests who have booked a Grand Deluxe Room with a Le Salon Lounge Package.

If you book a Grand Deluxe Room with Le Salon access, you can enjoy the following complimentary services at Le Salon:

During Afternoon Tea, a dessert tray is served by default, and guests can choose from a selection of beverages. You can also enjoy cookies and other treats freely from the lounge’s self-serve section. The shortbread cookies are a signature dessert of Lotte Hotels and Signiel, so make sure to try them.

During Happy Hour, guests can enjoy unlimited alcoholic beverages and food within the designated hours. The drink selection includes red, white, and sparkling wine, draft beer, whiskey, cognac, rum, and vodka, and you may also request a cocktail from the staff. The buffet features hot dishes, salads, cheese and salami platters, cakes, and fresh fruit desserts. Among them, the curry is especially popular.

The Breakfast Buffet offers an American-style spread with juices, coffee, milk, fruits, salads, cereals, bread, egg dishes, and bacon, along with a selection of Korean dishes. Upon request, the staff can prepare a made-to-order omelet, and you can also enjoy freshly cooked pancakes.

That’s all the content I’ve prepared. For information on facilities such as the swimming pool, sauna, and fitness club, please refer to my previous post (link below). I hope you enjoy a comfortable and pleasant stay at Lotte Hotel Seoul Executive Tower. If you have any questions, feel free to leave a comment anytime.
